数日前に百年に一度の大雪が降ったソウルで、ミューズの2010年のツアーの幕が開いた。ソウルの中心部から電車で約40分ほどの、ソウル・オリンピック・スタジアムのなかは熱気がものすごい。スタンディンクエリアでは開演前から押し合いと悲鳴が入り交じっていた。 本来は20時の予定であったが、会場が暗くなりイントロが流れたのは、20時45分。開演が遅れたのは、どうやらスタンディング・エリアの過密が原因のよう。それほどの熱気のなか、昨年の暮れに発売した『ザ・レジスタンス』一曲目に収録されている「アップライジング」で始まった。ライブ中はMCは少なく、新しいアルバムを中心にアンコール２曲を含めて全18曲を演奏。ステージから押し寄せる音と照明と映像が合わさったミューズ独特の世界が韓国のファンを強烈に飲み込んでいた。 言うまでものなく、ミューズの演奏は世界的なビックバンドとしてのオーラをまとっていた。が、なかでも印象的だったのが、韓国のオーティエンスの熱狂具合だ。ステージ前のフォトピット（客席とステージとの間）では大量のペットボトルの水が用意され、オーディエンスに無料で配布されていた。 また歓声の大きさは、今まで見たどのライブの中でも大きく、写真を撮影している私に恐怖心を抱かせるほど。失神者が続出し運び出されたのは軽く50人は超えていただろう。少しでもスペースを確保しようと、いくつものペットボトルやバックなどまでフォトピットを飛び交う様子は、日本では見ることのできない光景だった。会場が揺れるほどの大合唱を前に演奏をするのは、バンド冥利に尽きることだろう。ミューズ自身もその様子を楽しんでいたに違いない。 韓国の大雪をとかすほどの熱い熱いライブをしたミューズ。9日から始まる大阪、名古屋、東京を駆け抜けるジャパンツアーを是非目に焼き付けていただきたい。 -- Set List -- Intro/ 01.
