まったく邪な動機で申し訳ないのだが、今回ダフィーを撮りに言ったのには二つの理由があった。 一つ目はは彼女がウェールズ出身であること。二つ目はバーナード・バトラーが彼女のプロデューサーをしていたこと。
英国・ウェールズ地方は、今までも個性的なシンガーを輩出してきた。 ベテランではトム・ジョーンズだし、90年代にはカタトニアのケリス・マシューズが迫力のハスキー・ヴォイスで英国で人気を得ていた。 ダフィーの快進撃は今更語る必要もないが、この日、彼女の歌声を聞いていて、「これは奇跡なのじゃないだろうか」などと思ってしまった。 それほどにライブでのダフィーの歌声は、スタジオ録音で聞かせるよりも更に伸びがあり、迫力がある。 彼女は紛れもない、ライブシンガーである。 マイクなんて全然必要ないのではないだろうか、などと思えてくる。 一緒に来ていた私の友人は、「彼女の歌声が聞こえてきたら、なんだか野外にいるような錯覚に陥ってしまった。」と言っていた。うーん、確かに野外でも聞いてみたい。 先ごろ、ブリット・アウォーズとグラミー・アウォーズを受賞したことにより、「このまま、マライア・キャリーへの道をまっしぐら」などと批評家達に揶揄されているダフィー。 彼女が望んでいるのであればそれも有だろう。 でも、次回作のプロデューサーは再びバーナード・バトラーとのこと。 マライアになるのは、もう少し後のことになるのではないかと思う。 comment and photos and by izumikuma |
