エフタークラングはデンマーク出身の5人組。ステージではソロ活動及び他のバンドでも活躍するピーター・ブロデリックを含める4人のサポート・ミュージシャンを迎えての演奏となる。彼らの音楽はどの音楽ジャンルにも入らないユニークなものであり、大半のメンバーが2つ以上の楽器をこなす。 使用する楽器もギター、ベース、ドラム、キーボードから始まり、数々の打楽器、及びバイオリンやトランペット、トロンボーンも使用。中にはアンプを通さずに使用しているのもあった。数々の楽器の音がデリケートに編みこまれたメロディーに重なり、ほとんどの曲で沢山のコーラスが入る。そのドリーミーな音楽を聴いていると、風景が目に浮かんでくるようであった。
ロンドンでライブをするのも2年ぶりとのことで、観客の期待もさながら、ステージ前かぶりつきの位置までびっしりの状態。ニュー・アルバムからの1曲、『Mirador』は待ってましたと言わんばかりに曲紹介の時点で大歓声があがった。イントロの部分で入る不思議な音は、見たことも無い小さな打楽器を使用していて、「あれがあの音を出すんだ」などと発見する1面もあったりした。 最後の曲では観客に一緒にコーラスをさせたりと、すごく良い盛り上がりで終了。そして終わる直前に「僕たち終わったらすぐ出てくるから、握手とか挨拶とかしにきてね」とのこと。ほんとに終わって5分もしないうちにすぐ出てくるは、物販は自分達でやるはで、べニューの狭いホールは集まってきた観客で大混雑していた。マイスペースのキャプション通りに、「friendly & nice people from Copenhagen」っぷりを発揮。なんだか愛すべき奴らだな、などと思わせたり。 comment and photos by emi |
