As it was in 96, I hear, that Jackson Browne gigged in Nagoya last time, this was the first show for the last 8 years... But I guess this should be the very first one for him to play alone on stage here and it might have been a reason why the venue was absolutely packed and the tickets were completely sold out.
The vibe was right there with peaceful and easy feeling all over in the venue and it was like a home party of Jackson inviting old friends. Lots of voices from every corner of the venue asking for a song to be played. "Take It Easy", "Running On Empty", "Fountain Of Sorrow", "The Pretender"... With an interval of 10 minutes or so, it was a lovely evening of beautiful songs with still beautifully sounding voice of Jackson Browne for more than 2 and a half hours.
But in my mind some kind of strange feeling was bubbling. In the same evening, some thousand miles away from here, people were shivering with fear and facing to death threat by the same American. In Falluja in Iraq, about the same time, more than 600 hundred innocent citizens were slaughtered, I hear. An old lady with a white flag was shot dead so was a 75 years old man sniped. An ambulance car to rescue the victims was attacked by the US military force as well.
Jackson said, "This is about my country" and played 2 songs in the encore which included "Lives In The Balance" and "For America" and ended the show with "All Good Things". As he is not a politician or a symbol of civil movement as such although he was taking a big role for the good of America, the songs were not quite tough enough when I think of the reality of what his country is doing. Well, nothing would sound tough enough when you face what exactly is happening, I guess.
Obviously I am not blaming him at all, but probably sharing a similar feeling of some kind of irritation with him as one of the Japanese citizens whose government is equally responsible to this massacre and destruction of Iraq by sending what they call "Self Force Defence", the Japanese military Force to transport the US soldiers commited this crime which should have been banned by the best constitution ever appeared on earth.
I never know what I can do to stop this madness, but won't close my eyes to witness the reality of this "Freedom and Justice" of the US nor shut my mouths to denounce G.W.Bush for committing the worst crime in history which should be compared with Hitler.
