| To excited and expectant applause tireless voguers Sayaka and Pero took the stage in matching white lace coats and bright purple and red wigs. Accompanying them were two young ladies in kimonos with rice spatulas, a policewoman and a gentleman temple festival celebrant. The gentleman started off with a chant, the policewoman sang a gentle song and then after the band sauntered onto stage, suddenly Shibusa Sirazu burst into a full brass explosion. As the music set off into an old Japanese song about mucking up the military by enlisting as a joke, the immensity of the Show overwhelms. The wigs, the kimonos the buto dancers, the one hundred and one musicians, the conductor, where do you look? Concentrate on one too long and you become lost in the whole via the individual. Pull back and tempt falling into the abyss of the Show. And it never simplifies, never reduces the chaos, only adds, visually, aurally, physically. -->part2 |
