 The situation has changed a bit under influence of the European movement and especially the youth in Japan started moving forward. As the result a month later there were 40000 people marching in the capital whose number still is small though. A great thing about Doberman is that they started making some comment on stage on the issue although they could not speak Italian at all. With a bit of knowledge of English and a help of Banda Bassotti, they clearly insisted "No War" from the stage and asked the audience to say "Senso Hantai" in Japanese, means "Contro La Guerra" in Italian. It really was great to see the audience did response to Doberman and hear them saying "No War" in Japanese. |
I guess the guys of Doberman has got real good influence from Italy through this tour. Though they do have an "anti-war" song in their repertoire, there was some kind of hesitation in them selves to express their feel caused by a lack of pilitical awareness in Japan. This might be a big surprise to you though, while there are some millions of people got together to stop this bloody war in February, we had only 5000 people marching in Tokyo where 12 million people live and we have survivors of a massive airstrike onto Tokyo and atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the 2nd world war.
