Armed with wild and radical graffitti art works, a fort of the alternative Italy is found here in a suburb of Milan which is called Leonkavallo. I am not sure when this centro social started exactly, but I hear that this is the oledst one of almost 150 centros in Italy.

Inside you can find a banner of Bob Marley in the middle of the hall where the gig will be held. On the walls, there are lots of graffitti art works as well calling for action on various issues. I never speak Italian but could say two words only which I could not write here as I don't know how to spell. But through this tour, some words stay in my mind. One of them is "PACE" means peace which I saw everywhere in Italy. Even a TV programme there was a rainbow locored flag calling for peace! And another one was a phrase, "Contra La Guerra", Anti-War, here in the centro social in Milan on the stage. |
| Needless to say, the gig of the night is a part of a campaign to stop this bloody war in Iraq and the positive vibe was there waiting for the bands. Up till now, in some other cities, there was some people jumping on the stage and giving a speach, and a great thing was the lads of the Banda Bassotti were encouraging them to do so. But it seems here it was more organized. Here I remember another phrase of Italian which is "Contro Ogni Fascismo" which is "Anit Fascism". Thanks for Italian people for letting us know those as well as giving us a hint of a way to do something positive. |
