"Soul arrival. Soul survival today... Soul revival. Soul arrival today..." The rock steady dub of fellow islanders Go Jimmy Go may not do hula, but they and this particular track best summarize the one truth of these islands treasures. 25 plus years since his 1979 joining to a halau (academy in Hawaiian), Hawaiian chanter Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu has taken his creative drive, determination and discipline to become the world's leading hula farmer with multiple performances in the prestigious Merrie Monarch Festival. Responsible for the significant growth in its popularity amidst controversies from purists, contributing 2 songs to Disney's 'Lilo & Stitch' (2002) as well as establishing his Academy of Hawaiian Arts in 2003, one could almost say he could very well be the Bruce Lee of his storied, soul-restoring craft. Taking time off his hula farm with AHA colleagues Karen Palaruan Bringas and Aileen Lianne Que, a sandal and shades-wearing Ho'omalu brought his warmth, humor and love to Tokyo in elaborating on one of the great universals of life and his unwavering faith in it:
