---- あなたは当初、報道写真を目指していたと聞きましたが。「うん、戦争の報道写真だね。」 ---- でも、ボブ・マーリーの写真を撮り始めた事で、戦争写真家にはならなかったと。 「うーん。まず、僕は報道写真家になりたい、という野心を持っていた。で、まあ、それが音楽の写真を撮り始めた事によって、そうでなくなってしまったんだけど。でも、僕の写真のスタイルはロックを報道（ルポルタージュ）のスタイルで撮ったから、それは当時まったく新鮮なことだったよ。」 ---- もし、ボブ・マーリーと出会っていなかったら、どうなっていたでしょうね？ 「うん、それでも、写真を撮り続けてはいたはずだから。自分の目に入ったものをカメラに写し込む。僕のウェブサイトは見た？」 ---- あ…。見てません。（すみません。www.dennismorris.comです。） 「ウェブサイトを見てくれれば、音楽以外の僕のいろんな作品が見られるよ。」 ---- じゃあ、ボブ・マーリーと出会っていてもいなくても… 「僕は常にフォトグラファーということさ。写真は僕にとっての愛であり、自分自身を見つけだす手段であり、自分が自由になって自分のビジョンや自分自身を表現する手段でもあるのさ。」 ---- わかります。私も写真を撮ることが自分自身のセラピーになるし。 「そうだね。」 ---- 実は、私が初めてボブ・マーリーを見たのはまだ子供の頃で、その見た目にものすごく驚いてしまったんですよ。 「どこで見たんだい？」 ---- 日本で。テレビだったかな？ 当時の日本では決して見られない風貌だったから(笑)。どこか、別の惑星から来た人かと思ってしまったくらい(笑)。 「(笑) 彼はとても表現力豊かなパフォーマーだったろ？ステージ上の彼は偉大なパフォーマーだった。自分自身を解放していたからね。だから、もし彼の言葉が理解出来なくても、彼の歌い方や表情から何かを読み取ることが出来る。」 ---- そうですね。 |
