幾度かキセルのライヴとすれ違っていた。昨年のサンセット・ライブや一昨年の朝霧ジャムがその典型で、同じ場所にいながら、同じ時間に他のバンドを撮影していたのか、あるいは、他のアーティストを見ていたんだろう。だから、彼らの演奏に真正面から接するのは今回が初めてだった。 驚かされたのは、高田渡のアルバム、『ごあいさつ』で取り上げられていたラングストン・ヒューズの作品、「おなじみの短い手紙」を彼らが歌ったこと。そうなんだぁ... と、頭の中でつぶやきながら、彼らの世界に吸い込まれていった。まるで時間が止まったかのような夕暮れ時、あまりに素晴らしい背景に歌が浮き上がる。そして、僕らはそんな彼らの歌のなかで呼吸をしていたかのようにも思えた。そうかぁ、今も昔も切れることなくつながる歌がキセルに息づいているだと大いに納得したのがこのとき。また、チャンスがあったら、じっくりと「飲み込まれたい」と思うのだ。 photos by hanasan |
