日本ではセカンド・アルバム以降は発売にはならなかったようであるが、本国とアメリカでは結構な人気のあるThe Raveonettes（ザ・レヴォネッツ）。過去の曲では60年代を意識したようなレトロな曲もあるのだが、比較的最近ではもっとのりのよいギター・サウンドになっている。それでも今時のバンドと比べるとやはり確実にレトロっぽい感じはあるのだが。
世間では彼らの曲はThe Jesus & Mary Chain（ザ・ジーザス・アンド・メリー・チェイン）に似てると良く言われる。今回初めてライブで見て思ったのだが、確かにそれもあるなとは感じた。でも彼らの違うところは、女性ヴォーカリストのスーンの声。彼女の声は暗くて妙に無機質に聞こえる。これが男性ヴォーカリストのシャリンの声と重なると、これがなんだかとってもかっこいいのだ。 今年の11月にはニューアルバム、『Lust Lust Lust』が発売になるとのことで、新曲もいくつかご披露していた。それに対して観客の反応もすごく良かった。今まで契約していたレーベルから離れ、ニューアルバムは自分達でプロデュースをしたりとバンドに大きな変化があったようだが、これを機に音楽的にも良い方向に向かっているとの事。期待をしてニューアルバムの発売を待つことにしたい。 comment and photos by emi |
