マジェンタ・スカイコードはフィンランド出身。実は私的にはこのフェスティバルでこのバンドを見るのが一番楽しみだった。元々かなり気に入っているバンドではあるのだが、UKではリリースの無いので、フィンランドにでも行かない限りはライブで見れないと思っていたからである。このバンドは本来はプロデューサーでもあるフロントマンのJori Sjöroos（ヨーリ・ショールース）によって結成されたもので、繊細で美しいメロディーに、どこか影のあるヨーリのヴォーカルが入るといった感じである。
但しこの日は問題だらけだった。時間割が遅れているということで、ヴェニュー側から機材のセットアップをせかされたり、ギターのチューニングもまだ終わってないのに強制開始させられたり。そしてギターアンプにフィードバックが入ってしまったり、挙句の果てには「あと1曲で終わらせて」との指令が出る。最後の曲は「Go Outside Again（ゴー・アウトサイド・アゲイン）」という、アルバムの中でも一番光る曲だった。結局プレイしていたのは20分ほどだったけれど、この曲が聴けただけでも救いだったかもしれない。観客の人数も少ない上に、ステージ時間を短縮されてしまったので、メンバー達もちょっとがっかりという感じではあったが．．． ロンドンでも1日だけライブの予定があったのだが、このフェスティバルの最終日と重なっていたために私は行けず。「ちゃんとしたフルセットのライブだよ」とのことであったが。いつかまたUKに戻ってきてくれることを祈るのみである。 comment and photos by emi |
