「ザ・グリーン･マン・フェスティバル、メインステージ初日のトリはドノヴァン」と聞いたとき、「ドノヴァン、て60年代のドノヴァン？ジェイソン・ドノヴァンじゃないよね？」となんともピンをこなかった。私の印象は過去の人(失礼！)、引退した人(失礼！！)だったもので、「もしかして、同じ名前の違う人？」とすら思い込んでいた。が、地元アヴァガベニーの宿の奥さんに「フェスには誰がでるの？」と聞かれ「うーん。ドノヴァン、ジ・エイリアンズ、キャレクシコ・・・」と答えていたら、「あら、ドノヴァン？私の世代だわ」と言っていたので、どうやらやっぱりあのドノヴァンらしい。 と、いうわけで、フォーキードーキー・ステージのグリフを途中で切り上げてメインステージに到着してみると、誰でも絶対聞いたことがある「Sunshine Superman」を歌っていた！60年代UKフォークの代表ドノヴァンはしっかり現役だった！ ステージ上はアコースティックギターを持つドノヴァンとヒッピーな姿のベース、そしてボンゴ、といたってシンプル。気負いは一切なく、ベテランらしく各曲のエピソードを交えつつゆったりギターを爪弾き、歌うドノヴァンの姿は広大なウェールズの山のフェスティバル初日のトリにふさわしく私達を包んでいた。 -->Simple Kid photos by izumikuma |
