If the guys of the Talking Heads were a jazz musician and recorded the classic album called "Remain In Light", that would have sounded like this hidden classic by a Japanese musician called Masabumi "Poo" Kikuchi recorded in NYC in 80.

Especially the first track, "Circle/Line", is Heads jazz, I should call. The rhythm is funky with some kind of African vibes and performances of all of the musicians are just wicked. I don't really know if this is right or not, but I hear from someone that the guys behind Poo were the members of Miles Davis' band at the time. Whoever the guys were working for at the time, this track sounds badder than the baddest, I can tell you.

I see Steve Grossman, Dave Liebman, Richie Morales, Airto Moreira as such here and those names surely gives you some idea of the track. Don;t you think?

Also the surprise is they did record one of the oldest jazz reggae in this album called "Gumbo" here which was featured for a TV CF at the time. A lot of jazz musicians tried playing reggae, none sounded this good up till recent years. You should check this for club session.

Probably you could find a cheap analogue in a second hand record shop here in Japan. I remember I bought one for \800 a couple of years ago. Also CD is out for a budget price of \1500. If you get a chance, just buy it. If you are into funky jazz tip, you would not regret.
